Should parents send their children to study abroad for their secondary education?

To connect with the world, many parents today prefer to send their children abroad to study. Are Hong Kong students capable of having secondary education abroad? In my opinion, parents should send their children to study abroad for their secondary education in light of the joyful learning environment, seeing the world and improving their language skills. In this essay, three arguments will be presented for my stance.

To begin with, the learning environment abroad is joyful and easing up. Instead of the spoon-feeding education in Hong Kong, countries overseas offer more extracurricular activities and opportunities for hands-on learning since the pace of learning is slower, and there is less homework assigned. Students can thus enjoy more free time and might attempt to explore hobbies and practice self-learning. The relaxed and happy learning environment allows the students to discover their interests and do self-teaching.

Secondly, students can absorb knowledge by seeing the world. Every country has its own history and culture. Therefore, pupils studying abroad will experience a brand-new country with incredible new outlooks, customs and activities. For instance, after a meal in a restaurant in America, students will find paying tips to the server is needed and realize it is a showcase of generosity. As a result of the dark history, some countries have taboos. Understanding such taboos helps the student to be aware of, and avoid unnecessary arguments. Studying abroad builds up a knowledgeable student, allowing the pupil to think from different perspectives.

Finally, studying abroad enhances the language ability of the student. Cantonese is not generally used in countries overseas. Consequently, all the things overseas are in the native language. For example, in England, students have to communicate with others using English every day everywhere. At last, the student will have fluent English speaking with a rich vocabulary. Therefore, studying abroad builds up better communication skills for student future use.

To sum up, it is clear that parents should send their children to study abroad for their secondary education. Discovering their interests, having self-learning, thinking from different perspectives and better communication skills for future usage from which the student will be benefited.
